Woodland

The various woods are the only habitats within the reserve on which only minimal management is applied. The presence of dead or dying trees is vital for many insects, especially beetles and some bats.

However, some areas of these woods are remarkable. Ancient marls, peat willow or wet wood. These rare environments in Brenne, are home to the Water-violet, the Marsh Fern, the Downy Birch or the Helmeted Guineafowl.
