What is a “reserve naturelle nationale” ?

Equivalent to a national nature reserve, it is an area that protects a remarkable natural heritage (fauna, flora, minerals, fossils, etc.) through appropriate regulations that take into account the local context.

It is a long-term protection tool created by the Ministry in charge of the Environment. Its management is carried out in a planned manner by a specialized local body, supported by an advisory committee bringing together various local influencial people.

Often located in a remarkable or unusual landscape, the National Natural Reserve is also a place where visitors are welcome and informed about its natural history.
